Common Questions Before You Call
What if my AC is leaking water onto the floor or ceiling?
Usually one of three things — a clogged condensate drain line backing up into the pan, a frozen evaporator coil thawing all at once, or an indoor unit that was pitched wrong on install. We clear the line, find the freeze cause (low refrigerant, dirty filter, weak blower), and check the pitch. If water is dripping near electrical or staining a ceiling, call (347) 997-3360 — that is not a wait-til-Monday problem.
My system blows air but it is not cold. What is broken?
Most often a failed run capacitor on the outdoor unit, low refrigerant from a leak somewhere in the line set or coil, or a filthy condenser coil that cannot reject heat anymore. We measure superheat and subcool with manifold gauges before adding refrigerant — guessing at the charge is how systems get killed. Call us before someone tells you the system just needs a top-off.
How fast can you actually get to my Brooklyn address?
Same-day if you call before noon, most weekdays. During heat waves and cold snaps the schedule fills by 10am, so call early. Maintenance plan members get a guaranteed 24-hour service window. Saturdays we are closed unless it is a true no-heat or no-cool emergency in a building with kids, elderly residents, or risk of pipes freezing.
Do you charge for a quote and is there a service-call fee?
Diagnostic visits have a flat fee that we credit toward the repair if you go ahead. Quotes themselves are free — we tell you the cost of parts and labor before we start any work. No surprise add-ons, no commission-pressured upsells, and no charge to walk you through whether to repair or replace.
Can you send a Certificate of Insurance to my building or co-op board?
Yes — we send a COI same-day to any board, super, or management company that needs one before work starts. We carry general liability and workers comp coverage as required for NYC HVAC work. If your building has specific additional-insured language they need on the cert, send it over with your service request and we will match it.
How We Diagnose & Fix It
- 1
Walk the system before opening anything
Before we pull a panel, we ask what changed — new noise, sudden bill spike, weak airflow on one floor, water where it should not be — and walk the equipment from thermostat to outdoor unit. Roughly half of "broken AC" calls turn out to be a tripped float switch, a dead thermostat battery, or a filter so clogged the coil froze. We find the cheap fix first.
- 2
Diagnose with real tools, not guesswork
Manifold gauges for refrigerant pressure and superheat / subcool. Multimeter for voltage and capacitor microfarads. Clamp meter for amp draw on compressor and blower. Infrared thermometer for delta-T across the coil. A standard diagnostic runs 30 to 60 minutes. You see what we see — we explain the readings as we take them, not after the fact.
- 3
Explain the findings in plain English
We tell you what failed, what caused it, what it costs to fix, and what happens if you wait. If it is a $40 capacitor we will say so. If the system is at end of life and a repair is throwing good money after bad, we will say that too — and lay out repair-vs-replace honestly without a hard sell. You decide, not us.
- 4
Fix it and back the workmanship
Most repairs wrap same-day with parts on the truck. Bigger jobs we schedule and order parts the same call. All workmanship comes with a 1-year labor warranty — if anything we touched fails inside a year, we come back free. Parts carry the manufacturer warranty, which we register on your behalf so you do not have to chase it later.
Why Brooklyn Trusts Us
10+ years working in Brooklyn
Owner-operated since the start. We know the buildings here — prewar brownstones, two-family conversions, walk-up apartments, rooftop installs — because we work in them every day, not once a quarter.
NYC licensed and fully insured
Licensed in NYC with general liability and workers comp coverage. Certificate of insurance sent same-day to any building or board that needs one before we show up.
1-year workmanship warranty
Every repair is backed in writing for a full year on labor. Parts carry the manufacturer warranty, which we register for you. If something we touched fails in that window, we come back at no charge.
No commission technicians
The person diagnosing your system has zero financial incentive to oversell it. We do not pay commissions on parts, replacements, or service plans. The diagnosis you get is the diagnosis we believe.
Ready When You Are
Whether it is a water leak, a system that will not cool, a heater short-cycling, or just a maintenance check before the season turns — get a real answer instead of a guess. Three ways to reach us, no pressure either way.
No pressure, no commission-driven upsells. Diagnostic visits are flat-rate and credited toward the repair if you go ahead.
